Director: Sam Donovan
Country: United Kingdom
Run Time: 14:00
Synopsis:
Boris tries to reunite his separated parents on a shark-spotting trip. The only problem is, his biggest enemy is along for the ride: his mother’s new girlfriend.
This was a delightful film, and all the actors were very well cast. The line “I spy with my little eye something that begins with an L” was hilarious. I thought the part of the father was very well written and acted. He subtally portrayed himself as emaciated. It was very believable that he would have felt that way in this situation. In fact, every one of the characters acted in a realistic way. The mother wants to do whats right for her son, and the mother’s parnter did a great job protraying patience. Even though she was somewhat resentful of the boy she approached the situation with the maturity of an adult. When the boy heard from her that his mother would never love her as much as she did him, it allowed him to accept the situation. This film won my vote for best film amongst a very strong field of contenders.
What an entertaining and humorous film! I loved the character Boris. It was a bit bent as well as being believable and dealing sensitively with a serious family issue. Congratulations on the Best Fiction nomination. Th film had lots of twists and surprizes which made it most enjoyable. Hammerhead got my vote even though I was strongly tempted to vote for the ‘almost as good’ Australian film.
Highly enjoyed it! It gets my vote.
