I saw your movie on sunday night at the Orpheum in Sydney Australia and in a programme of ten excellent shorts, your’s stood out. Both my husband and I voted for you , the story was powerful and the actors were wonderful.I hope you will be the winner.
    Best of luck

I was enthralled with your short film from start to finish. I hope you win.

I hope to see many more Manhattan Shorts in the future.

  4. Brian says:

Dramatic, riviting, and shocking. It was a moving film.

I thought this was a very well-made film. However, at our screening site, the subtitles were not visible, so I could not follow the dialogue. Despite this, it was a very powerful story. I was particularly impressed with the scene where the woman was remebering her childhood and her little sister, interspersed with her total and ongoing debasement.

Miente was a powerful and heart-wrenching doc. which highlighted the terrible consequences of what can happen to vulnerable people. The strength of the girls to continue when faced with such an evil is extraordinary. Congratulations on your nomination for best editing. Your film was a stand-out!

While the content was very disturbing, this was by far the most professional looking of the choices. I’m glad you won an editing award for your efforts.
I couldn’t bring myself to vote it as best film however. There is so much “darkness” in cinema these days, I preferred something more uplifting. I look forward to more of your excellent work. How about something Not from the dark side next time?

  8. This was my second pick for the winner of the film festival. The content as well as the directing and editing were excellent and quite powerful.

Also, this was the one of the only movies I thought could possibly be turned into a feature film. I found myself wanting to know the past of future of the lead character. Isabel De Ocampo, you definitely have a promising future ahead of you as a filmmaker.

I voted for your film. I love that it increases awareness and makes those we may never have contact with more real. I also love the hope it instills and that it highlights the tenacity of the human spirit in the face of what appears to be a hopeless situation. It drew me in quickly, held me tight and left me touched and smiling. Awesome!

I voted for Miente because it was the only film of the 10 that brought me tears. It is a beautiful film that spoke to me, heart, mind and soul. Thank you!
