We need to see more films like that. Thanks, Manhattan Short!
Refreshing angle from this film. Such a young talent, with a touching message. Great Work!
This was a beautiful and uplifting movie. I cannot help but compare it to another movie shown several years ago at the Manhattan Film Festival, title (I think) “I Want to be a Pilot”. That was also a documentary about an orphan in Africa (I forget which country). The boy in that movie was HIV positive and existed in absolute squalor. He also lived with hope of someday escaping his circumstance, but the movie was sad, since there was virtually no way his dream would be realized. On the other hand, this film was very uplifting. The attitudes of the film maker and of all the kids he filmed was full of optimism. I dont know anything about “Reencontro”, but I would like to learn more — they seem to be doing wonderful work. The only thing that confused me, and the others I was with, was the reunification with the little brother. He seemed to be living in good circustances with his grandparents. Why was he removed from that situation?
Great job! Loved it! It’s wonderful to see you using your talents to change the world.
