Jamie Donoughue is a British film and television director whose work ranges from intimate short-form drama to major television productions. His career exemplifies how the short film circuit can serve as a proving ground for directors who go on to shape prestige television.

His short film Shok (2015) is based on true events from the Kosovo War, depicting two boys whose friendship is tested by the arrival of Serbian military forces. Shot with unflinching realism and anchored by extraordinary performances from its young cast, the film earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short Film at the 88th Academy Awards. It screened at the Manhattan Short Film Festival in 2015.

Following Shok‘s success, Donoughue moved into high-profile television directing, with credits including The Last Kingdom (BBC/Netflix), Endeavour (ITV), A Discovery of Witches (Sky Max), and the Series 14 finale of Doctor Who (BBC/Disney+). His transition from short film to tentpole TV illustrates the Manhattan Short pipeline: global audience testing followed by industry recognition.
